Breaking the Silence undertook to ensure child participation in the project area. The aim of the occasion is to strengthen the capacity of the children so that they can be able to protect them from sexual abuse. The children took part in the carnival who participated in the regular awareness session of Breaking the Silence. Total 2305 children & 680 adults (parents, caregivers, teachers) took part in the carnival in the different events in the 5 districts. To encourage the children several competitions organized such as story writing, essay, recitation, painting, music, dance and acting. The program was divided into three parts a. Discussion Meeting b. Cultural Program c. Prize Distribution. District commissioner, Government officials, Union Parishad members, School teachers, Journalists, Lawyers and representatives of civil society attended in the carnival. In addition they perform their role as a judge of the performing art competition.

In Jamalpur children carnival organized at Jamalpur Shilpokala Academy ground on 23 December, 2006. The students of Iqbalpur girl’s high school, Baniabazar high school, Shinhojani girl’s high school and Jamalpur Govt. Girl’s high school took part in the carnival. Every Child received prize who were participate in the Drawing, Music, Dance and Essay competition. Total 500 children (community children & School students) and adult (Parents, teachers, govt. officials, journalists, NGO representative, cultural activist) participated in the carnival. |
In Barisal the carnival organized at Barisal Zilla School premises on 24 December 2006. The students of Sere-Bangla Nagar High School, Kawnia Diba Naisha High School, Shahid Ziaur Rahman High School, Syeda Mazitunnessa High school took part in the carnival. Moreover the children of Aparajeo Bangladesh took part in the carnival. Different publications (booklet, sticker, poster, leaflet, research report,) of BTS displayed in the stalls. The Children participated in the Drawing, Music, Dance and Essay competition. Total 350 children (community children & School students) and adult (Parents, teachers, govt. officials, journalists, NGO representative, cultural activist) participated in the carnival. |
The carnival organizes in Bauniabadh Ideal High School premises on 14 December, 2006. The children of Bauniabadh community, Breaking the Silence's child group members and the students of Bauniabadh Ideal High School took part in the carnival. Children presented different issues like child rights, child abuse, child sexual abuse and it's way of prevention in their cultural activities. Every Child received prize who were participate in the Drawing, Music, Dance and Essay competition. Total 650 children (community children & School students) and adult (Parents, community leaders, local elected body, teachers, govt. officials, journalists, NGO representative, cultural activist) participated in the carnival. |
In Munshiganj the carnival organized at Medeni Mandal Anwar Chowdhury High School premises on 14 December 2006. The students of Kolapara High School, Medeni Mandal Anwar Chowdhury High School and Kazir Pagla A.T High school took part in the carnival. Different publications (booklet, sticker, poster, leaflet, research report,) of BTS displayed in the stalls. The Children participated in the Drawing, Music, Dance and Essay competition. The Children presented different issues like child rights, child abuse, child sexual abuse and it's way of prevention in their cultural activities. Total 600 children (community children & School students) and adult (Parents, teachers, local elected body, journalists, NGO representative, cultural activist) participated in the carnival. |
The carnival organized in Vandaria Thana Girl’s High school premises on 25 December, 2006. The children took part in the competition on Music, Dance, Recitation, and drama. The children perform a stage play on ‘Child Sexual abuse”. Every Child received prize who were participate in the different performance and competition. The students of Vandaria Thana Girls High school, Nodmulla High school & Hazi S. Zaman High school and child group members of Breaking the Silence participated in the carnival. Total 800 children (community children & School students) and adult (Parents, community leaders, local elected body, teachers, govt. officials, journalists, NGO representative, cultural activist) participated in the carnival. |
